Slumdog Millionaire

After reading more about this Oscar nominated movie I was excited about the possibilities of the plot.

Plot: A young man in India is accused of cheating his way through the game show “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire”.

Twist: The explanation of the answers leads us on a lifelong journey through the slums of Bombay.

Memorable Quotes: Maybe it’s written.

My Thoughts: Fantastic! This movie had been hyped up by friends and media and still managed to deliver beyond expectations. The way the story builds upon past experiences provides a refreshing cinematic experience. The acting is top notch and the location provides a new perspective on the real world.

Who Will Like This Movie: Everyone.

The Shawshank Redemption

It was brought to my attention the other day that our friend Carrie had never seen this movie. As almost everyone knows, that is unacceptable so we proceeded to guilt her into watching it. However, this movie is one of my all time favorites so it was not difficult for me to watch it again.

Plot: I’ll make it quick since everyone has seen it…Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) is falsely convicted of murder and sent to Shawshank. He quickly makes some new friends as he adapts to prison life.

Twist: Andy’s skills prove to be quite useful to several people at the prison, including the warden. This makes life easier for Andy and his friends, since they are afforded several luxuries.

Memorable Quote: Put your trust in the lord; your ass belongs to me. Welcome to Shawshank.

My Thoughts: As mentioned before this is one of my favorite movies of all time. The story is brilliant, leading you up and down a roller coaster of emotions and the feel good ending gets me every time.

Who Will Like This Movie: Anybody. That’s why it’s a ten.
