Gone Baby Gone

While watching the Oscars, this movie caught my attention. After a friend of mine suggested that I would really like this movie, I went out and rented it.

Plot: The movie is about a couple who work as private investigators in Boston. When they are approached to take the case of a missing little girl they begin working side by side with the Boston PD to find the missing child.

Twist: As the case begins to unravel the couple believes that the police may not be telling them the whole truth.

Memorable Quotes: Get that sausage off my lawn.

My Thoughts: As I had been previously told, this movie was very good. The story is excellent, original, and poses some serious questions about morality. Casey Affleck proves once again that he is a better actor than his brother. Maybe Ben should stick to writer and director. I got lost in the language several times, but I didn’t want to miss anything so I had to back it up several times. Of course it takes place in Boston…so what can you expect.

Who Will Like This Movie: Mandy and anybody who likes movies that make you ponder the decisions in life.

The Other Boleyn Girl

This was the movie selected for “date night” with a bunch of friends. I had seen the preview and thought it looked good, but figured it had Scarlett and Natalie so I couldn’t really go wrong.

Plot: <This is a theatrical retelling of the relationships between Henry VIII (Eric Bana), Anne Boleyn (Natalie Portman), and her sister Mary Boleyn (Scarlett Johansson).

Twist: Although he was originally supposed to be setup with Anne, the king quickly falls for her sister Mary despite the fact that she is already married.

Memorable Quotes: He was very tender…surprisingly so.

My Thoughts: When it comes to chick flicks I don’t typically like any story that is historical in nature, but since I didn’t really know the full story the movie was quite entertaining. The acting was top notch as expected and Natalie Portman plays the role of bitch quite well. Although it was just under 2 hours, it felt a bit longer because it dragged at times.

Who Will Like This Movie: Any big time British historical buffs…Savanna.

How ironic. Hello world was the title of the (automated) first entry to my new blog. Since my day job is basically a programmer of sorts I figure I’ll just stick with that for now while I get this whole thing figured out. Hopefully this will be the lamest entry followed soon by a stream of gems…but I doubt it.
