There Will Be Blood

August 19, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Another movie on day five since they are all due back. Even more Percocet in the system now.

Plot: This is a story about a man involved in drilling for oil early in US history.

Twist: The man runs into some several problems along the way and goes off the deep end in more ways than one.

Memorable Quotes: I….DRINK…..YOUR….MILKSHAKE!

My Thoughts: Not really sure what the point of this movie was. If they were just trying to tell a weird story about a crazy man then I’ll say it was a success. Other than that, it was good for a few random laughs when you probably aren’t supposed to be laughing. Hoever, Daniel Day-Lewis does an amazing job playing a crazy man, as usual.

Who Will Like This Movie: If you ever thought Gangs of New York would have made a great western…this is your movie.

3:10 to Yuma

January 21, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I’ve been wanting to see this movie since it was released, but I never got around to it. Since I still hadn’t really heard a bad review from anybody it was time to grab a few adult beverages, slide into some comfortable lounge wear, and get into a little western tale.

Plot: A rancher named Dan Evans (Christian Bale) witnesses the holdup of a coach on its way to Bisbee. The leader of the group responsible for the holdup, Ben Wade (Russell Crowe), is captured while visiting a lady in the town of Bisbee. The men must transport Wade to Contention in order to get him on the 3:10 train to Yuma prison. Evans offers his services in exchange for $200, which he intends to use to pay off the debts on his land that is about to be taken from him.

Twist: The road to Contention is long and dangerous because the group is being followed by Wade’s gang. As the story unravels Wade continuously tries to convince Evans to turn back, but when Evans son arrives to help he is determined to do the right thing.

Memorable Quote: “They had a lot of weapons mister and they were shooting bullets.”

My Thoughts: The movie was a good mixture of story and action, which kept me entertained throughout the movie. Christian Bale and Russell Crowe both played their parts very well, but I thought Crowe’s character was very entertaining due to a nice mixture of wit and sadism. Think Rusty Ryan from Ocean’s Eleven meets Derek Vinyard from American History X. In the end, it’s a good story with a nice twist at the end.

Who Will Like This Movie: Anybody who loves Tombstone or likes to cheer for the bad guy sometimes.
